Polytheists- How do you genuinely feel with regards to your faith of various gods versus one? I am a Wiccan, but I believe in all types of theism as symbols for fertility and nature worship- BUT I think there are those of us out there who do in truth believe in various gods and I am just curious on your take. Do you have the "all gods are one god" philosophy? Do you believe that various gods take an active hand in your each and everyday life? And if you converted from Christianity, Agnosticism, ect did you find it difficult at introductory to believe? I'm a hard polytheist. I see my deities as discerned humans with their own lives and agendas. Just as I see my female ancestors as discerned persons rather than as being distinct features of one single female ancestor, even even though they may share the same bloodline. My deities share the same spiritual bloodline but that doesn't make them the same being. I honor assorted gods but there are two that I am nearest to--Taranis and Lugus (Gaulish deities). I honor them and they watch over me and give me peace and guidance. I show my love and gratitude each day through prayer, offerings and song. On a less regular basis, I honor assorted other deities. The thought of them all being the same just doesn't compute in my mind or heart. I've always been polytheist so I in truth can't accurately imagine what it would be like to only have one deity. |
