Triquetra Pendant
| Jewelry as we know it has existed since time immemorial. Today, these adornments are regarded as mere accessories, something used to embellish a person from head to toe. What we from time to time fail to realize is that these little trinkets have their own story to tell. They percentage a part of the history of any culture known to mankind. The origin of the word "jewelry" may be traced back from the Latin term "jocale" which means plaything. To our ancestors however, a piece of jewelry is more than just a plaything. They were regarded as a currency, worn as a status symbol, representation, membership to a group and now and again shelter from disease or evil spirits. The crown for example is a sign of royalty, any individual who wears it is implied to belong to a family of royal blood. To believers of Jesus Christ, the cross is a symbol of their faith or now and then a weapon versus the fallen angel. Basically, interpretation of the significations of jewelry depends on the person looking at it. Earlier types of jewelry were said to be made of dissimilar materials ranging from grass, bones, wood, stones, metal, semi - precious gems and now and again rare stones of high value. They were normally stringed or cast together to form a distinct shape or symbol with significant meaning. For example, Irish jewelry is ordinarily adorned by traditionalisti Celtic symbols. Symbols take in forms of spirals, knots, animals, plants and occasionally human. Each of which takes on a dissimilar meaning. Although the designs have various forms, they have one prevailing characteristic, they are drawn with no beginning and no end. These symbols are said to be tributes for nature that the warriors draw on their swords, shields and armors. Today, Celtic symbols are taken from the shields and are transposed to contemporary Irish jewelry. Studs of Triquetra earrings are available everyplace at any given time. Celtic knots embellish cross pendants and bracelets. More and more humans are buying them not only because of their distinguishable design but it is rich symbolism as well. The Triquetra for example is the Celtic symbol for the Trinity, anything and everything that has a three-fold persona or dimension. If for Catholics, the Trinity is the Holy Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, the Trinity knot to an ancient Celt signifies the three partition of the earth: water, land and sky or the three dimensions of time: past, present and future. In a way an embodiment of eternity. The make of innovative jewelry is not fixed to the traditionalisti metal of bronze, silver or gold. The semi-precious and valuable stones are tardily being substituted by materials like glass, plastic and even polymer clay. Although these materials provide a for less substitute for jewelry makers and buyers alike, Irish jewelry still manage to survive and thrive. Celts and non-Celts similar are creating a demand that has encouraged Irish jewelers to invent handcrafted jewelry. These are now effortlessly available in the market through the Internet and various jewelers worldwide.

Variation on triquetra and the change in meaning.? I am looking to get a tattoo of a triquetra placed on my body and the mutual design isn't what I desire which is rather easy to find significations for. I was merely marveling if two interlaces triquetra changed the meaning of the symbol at all, I would think it would. I recognise tattoos have a specific meaning to whom ever puts the effigy on the body but I would like to recognise incisively what it would mean to others. Example: http://www.shopirish.com/Womens-14-Kt-Two-Tone-Gold-Celtic-Trinity-Knot-Pendant-with-Chain?sourcecode=CJ A symbol means whatsoever it means to the person using it. The Celtic trinity knot has been said to represent the interconnectedness of body, mind and spirit (the self). Wiccans may say it's representative of the triple goddess (and the three stages of womanhood) of Maiden, Mother, and Crone. Christians might say it's representative of the trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This queer pendant I might view the outer triple knot to be representative of the triple goddess and the inner one to be representative of me (from a Wiccan perspective). Basically, we don't know what these queer knotwork forms meant to those who in the first place devised them, so you are going to have to find your own meaning in them.
