In the Torah or OT does it ever refer to god as the sun? I posed this question a couple days ago; is the innovative god the same as the Egyptian god ra which is the sun . Attributes bestowed upon God in the Tanakh are a lot of more than the life fostering strength of the sun in metaphorical terms. I think it is rather a stretch to assert that Psalm is claiming that the sun is God. It remains anachronistic to assert Akhenaten's religion to make Aten the sole deity was a source of Judaism, too. It came after Judaism. I have always found Akhenaten's brief rule the most fascinating. There have been all sorts of theories that Moses may have been influenced by remnants of the old Aten faith of Akhenaten. I think it is more likely that Ahkenaten was influence by the Hebrews. If the Pharaoh at the time of the Exodus was Ramses II( as the more prominent number of scholars studying this now believe) then Nefertari as Rameses’ crucial wife, believed to have been the niece or grandniece of Queen Nefertiti, wife of Akhenaten, could have taught the young Moses a lot of of the system of belief of the banned religion. This could have influenced Moses to a lot of degree, just as other cultural influences are likewise found within Judaism. |
