Pius Xii
Catholic RenewalCatholic Renewal comprises changes in the Roman Catholic Church in XX century, which may be classified in three major domains: (1) approach towards Bible (from Latin Vulgate to comprehensive translations of critical editions of texts in primary languages), (2) liturgical exercises (from liturgy in Latin to Mass in contemporary language with active engagement of lay faithful) and (3) role of faith in Christian life (from now and then very formal and legal approach towards church to special and significant stress on catechumenate and acknowledging person need for the experience of Divinity). Biblical renewal started with Pius XII's 1943 encyclical Divino Afflante Spiritu since which Catholic translations of the Bible are based directly on the texts found in manuscripts in the basi languages. Later documents (of which Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation published as a result of the Second Vatican Council may be considered to be of particular importance) were furthering to provide versions of the Bible in the "mother tongues" of the faithful, and urging both clergy and laity to carry on to make Bible study a central portion of their lives. Liturgical renewal has been launched by the Second Vatican Council, emphasizing that "the faithful must be led to that wholly conscious and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy" (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy). Other Second Vatican Council documents, like the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, may be considered as the background for catechumenate renewal which was introduced in a heap of Catholic queer churches in a great deal of forms soon after the Council (of which Neocatechumenate is in all probability best known), and for charismatic renewal which started in 1967. Would I be out of line to say Pius xii, Hitler, Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin, DeGualle, KKK? Some persons say "how powerful could a bunch of flag waving nuts get". You are looking at it. you brought up hitler.. that's racist.. LOL jk, I HATE when humans say that. I don't think your out of line, I just don't think all of them knew how primary they would end up being or how huge the events they got involved in would be.. all of them would have power as leaders, but their legacies were produced by events not foreseen by them (well perhaps hitler if he knew what he would do with the power he weilded).. but I mean they ended up making more prominent conclusions than each and everyday decision making because of the situations they were thrust in.. I hope that made sense. |
