Working with uncut amethyst? I have a chunk of uncut amethyst, when it comes to the size of two oreo cookies stacked on top of each other. How would I go with regards to separating it into chunks? I was thinking I'd break off two littler chunks, work them into earrings, and leave the rest for a sameness pendant. Are there particular tools? Do I just use a hammer? If so, how exactly? don't use a hammer! you need special tools, diamond saw, special grinders. talk to a gemologist and see if what you have is stable or if it has fractures in it. it may just crumble in your hands. exploration it before you do anything!!! |
