can any person advise me on the proper use of my mala? the buddhist prayer beeds Malas function similar to rosaries. That is they aid in keeping track of the number of times you desire to say a sure prayer, mantra, sutra etc. I can't say for sure how the Buddhist use them but traditionally Hindus use them by placing the beads amid the middle finger and thumb and plainly pull a bead upon the string as you chant your prayer once then repeat this till you've finished your meditation.
