DOES BELIEF IN GOD CAUSE WAR?Unlike in the time of Thomas Jefferson, when “Creator”, “religion” and “church” represented three distinct ideas, “religion” today is a very loaded term. It is wholly inaccurate, as Bill Maher and other atheists often do, to lump faith in God, coordinated religion and the evil that adherents of a peculiar religion engage in, together underneath a mutual term and then, to place the blame there for humanity's problems. For example, Jesus is very without doubt or question not the founder of Christianity or anything remotely like it, nor is it any more reasonable to blame Jesus for what persons do in his name, than it is to blame Copernicus and Isaac Newton for Hiroshima. The same applies in varying degrees to Buddha, Confucius, Zarathustra and sure other so-called “founders” of respective religions. There is no dandier critic of fundamentalist religion or religious hypocrisy in history than Jesus, nor is there any dandier advocate for personal, local and international peace. Like religion, science and education are with respect to history intimately entwined with war and humane oppression on a massive scale, tracing back from ever more effective designs for ancient war chariots, DaVinci's war-machine inventions and, on up through the Manhattan Project, the modern-day military industrial complex and ever worse weapons of mass destruction. The American, French, Russian and assorted other revolutions were fomented by so-called “enlightened” intellectuals. Thus, those who blame faith in God for war are merely liars. It is rectify to say religion is a tool ofttimes employed to foment war and humane oppression and, it is just as reasonable to point out science and education are many times used for the same purpose. However, it's not precise to pretend either one is a root “cause” of humane aggression. Believers in God and scientists both ofttimes leave a positive bequest and, a good deal of of history's most revered humans demonstrated a unfathomed personal faith in God. Jesus correctly singled out religious hypocrisy, rather than faith in God, as having a significant negative societal impact. According to Jesus and a good deal of New Testament writers and, according to ALL known scientific and historical evidence, the root cause of humanity's difficulties is sin, causing person humane frustration, greed and aggression, resulting in negative selections being made by person humane beings. Families, tribes, cities, states, nations, armies, religions, political parties, corporations, unions, instructional institutions, professional scientists and all other “groupings” of humane beings, are made up of person people, each making their own person choices. It would be freshening if innovative educators and humans like Bill Maher, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens could grow up just a little and, commence placing the blame for humanity's troubles where it belongs, squarely on our own self-contradicting shoulders. Perhaps then, a progressed species in grave danger of losing it's own ordinarily shared international habitat, could begin to have a little more unbiased and exact understanding of where Jesus and the writers of the Bible are actually coming from. Were the American, French, Russian and Chinese revolutions, WWI, WWII, Vietnam and Iraq, amongst hundreds of other wars from the 20th Century forward, caused more by faith in God, organized religion, intellectual idealism, nationalism or just plain old mutual humane greed, as ALL wars may constantly be traced back to?
