Severe fear of needles for the duration of cesarean? So I'm having a planned cesarean on wednesday due to a breach baby. I wasn't planning on using any pain meds, but since it's not a vaginal birth I plainly have no choice in the matter. Anyway, I have a severe fear of needles. For example, I was passing kidney stones in August (which is numerous of the worst pain ever experienced). They had to give me an iv so they could get the pain beneath control with demerol. When they brought in the needle I tried to get out of the bed no matter of how much pain I was in. So I don't know how I'm going to deal with getting a spinal. I may already see me attempting to run around the room. : ( I just genuinely don't recognise how I'm going to get through that part. Nothing else with regards to the surgery frightens me..just the needle for the spinal. Especially since it's going in my back. So may I get a heap of experience with spinals??? What was it like? My oldest daughter is 29 and has been terrified of doctors and particularly needles since she was a vary little child. When she was pregnant with our basi grandchild, she planned to go natural with the birth because of her fear of needles. However, things don't always go the way you plan them. She ended up with a stalled labor which lead to her very reluctantly having an epidural. What they did for her was not show her the instrumentation they were using. She had an splendid anesthesiologist as well as fantasti nurses and doctors who helped her through her panic. 25 hours after her water broke at home, she had been with resolute determination stalled at 8 cm for over 8 hours. She invented a fever, the baby's heart rate was going crazy and her doctor said a c-section was her recommendation. My daughter was terrified, but exhausted and genuinely wanted the whole nightmare to be over. My son-in-law stayed with her and she had various nurses furthering her. It was very traumatic for her and she's had numerous long-ranging issues that she's seeing a counselor for. I think her fear of doctors and needles borders on a phobia plus she had a actually hard time with being tied down on the operating table. I think, since you have time to plan this out, that speaking with your doctor regarding your needle fear could probably result in a heap of type of plan to support ease your concern. With my daughter, she had no time to think it through in front of time and conclusions were made when she wasn't in her best frame of mind. I say speak with your doctor and I think he/she will in all likelihood have a lot of workable solutions. |
