Those Who Haven’T Visited Goa

In places the notorious hash-fuelled days of Goa’s golden hippy years are still alive and kicking, specially around Vagator & Chopora, while in others, like Calangute & Baga, the all-inclusive package holiday is king. But these are two very narrow sides of the Goan experience and any individual who spends much time here will discover that Goa holds more potpourri and vitality than closely anyplace else in India.
Head into Panaji (Panjim), one of India’s smallest and most likeable state capitals, and, rather of self-contained tourist resorts and trinket-selling dreadlocks, you’ll discover a Portuguese pantry of flaking architectural delicacies spiced up with Indian exuberance. Inland, you may stand in greener-than-green fields picking vanilla pods, bathe with elephants or visit market towns like Mapusa.
The main draws of Goa are the beaches, such as Anjuna, which are each bit as cliché-beautiful as they’re supposed to be, but just as much of an attraction is it is intriguing fusion of colonial Portugal and progressed India. There is closely nowhere else in India where the influence of the former colonial overlords remains as strong as it does in Goa and it’s not at all strange to find crucifixes hanging on walls next to posters of Shiva and groups of elderly Goan men conversing in Portuguese.
Wander the crumbling cathedrals and basilicas of Old Goa, for a arousing and attention holding clear or deep perception into this colonial legacy. Goa may not be as cool as it once was but it’s surely just as magical.
Dona Paula beach is without apparent effort one of the busiest beaches in Goa for assorted reasons.

What is the comprehensible statement behind the story of the golden Buddha being placed above the altar in St. Clare's?

From what I've been told at the gathering conducted by Pope John Paul II in Assisi in 1986, a good deal of Buddhists placed a golden Buddha above the altar, crucifix, and relics in the Basilica of St. Clare. Is this true? If it happened, is this half the story or someways has a fabricated part to it? Thanks.
You know, that picture doesn't look at all like any cathedral. Just thought I'd through that out there.

@Lynn- lol, Peter Dimond is a nut case. If he's so convinced of Sedevacantism, why in the world does he attend a Byzantine Mass said in union with this "heretic" anti-pope? And who does he think is a validly consecrated bishop anyway? There needs to be at least one validly devoted in the world at all times or the Church has lost one of her seven sacraments. Loosing that means the Church has failed, and Christ promised the Church would never fail. To me, it sounds like Peter Dimond is calling Christ a liar. :)

It isn't true.
