2 questions with regards to a heap of crystal points I just bought? I just ordered black tourmaline points and they're perfect. Too perfect. The other tourmaline bits I have are cracked, chipped... I'm skeptical. So my primary question is... is it possible to tell real gems from fakes? If so, how? I wondered... how are gempoints made? I just can't believe how perfective these are. How do you do this to a stone? BTW... YA didn't give me any good suggestions as to where to ask this, so if I asked in the defective section, my apologies. The best thing you may do is take it to a store that sells gems. Get a professional to look at it and give you their opinion. Unfortunately, the only 100% precise way to tell what it is, is to have it chemically analyzed, which is actually expensive. However, that picture that you show doesn't look like tourmaline. It's hard to say just from a picture, but tourmaline commonly has an ice-like look to it, and that looks very muted. |
