Apparently, they were driven by a specifically Southern hatefulness. Supporting gay marriage has become a kind of cultural signifier, a way of distinguishing oneself from the ignorant throng.in the intensively divided America of 2012, being versus gay marriage may now be seen closely as an act of political rebellion versus a faraway elite which fears and loathes anyone who is not like them.the Episcopal Church's leading lesbian (the Rev.) Susan Russell called the vote a "shameful exercise of ballot-box bigotry in North Carolina." she looked with disgust upon the persons of North Carolina for voting in favor of Amendment 1 by an overpowering 61 per cent. the amendment to the state's constitution says, "Marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this state."Her racist remarks, equating being gay with being black, are highlighted by the fact that most blacks in the state supported the Amendment. So much for conflating "homophobia" with racism. Of course, gays and lesbians will stop at not one thing to import their conduct into the church. they don't mind who they trample on to get their way. anyone who opposes their conduct is, of course, homophobic and must be consigned to their version of hell - presumably, with no collaborator at all. anyone who opposes their agenda is mechanically a bigot and full of hatred and subject to much ridicule. You may read more regarding this in today's digest. *****Thousands of members of historic Falls Church in northern Virginia held their final Sunday services in their centuries-old home after losing a long-running court battle with the Diocese of Virginia and the Episcopal Church.the congregation of 4,000 worshippers was ordered to vacate the historic church property for which the city of Falls Church is named. the congregation traces it is roots back to George Washington.the congregation went through a nasty split precipitated by divisions within the Episcopal Church over the ordination of a gay bishop and other theological issues.the congregation, now beneath the Anglican Church of North America, remains solidly Anglican even though no longer allied with the heretical Episcopal Church. the liberal, continuing Episcopalians will be moving back in. Time will show they cannot sustain it. another albatross for TEC Virginia Bishop Shannon Johnston. You may read Sarah Frances Ives's poignant departure piece in today's digest.*****The Church of Ireland synod this past week restated what the Church teaches concerning marriage as the "only normative place for sexual intercourse." it likewise condemned language and activenesses that fetch hurt, shame and fear into the lives of others (irrespective of sexuality). it devoted the Standing Committee of the General Synod to fetch before Synod next year proposals for a Select Committee and it is terms of reference. it was a victory for the orthodox in the Church of Ireland this week. all of the amendments, four in total, were discomfited by a 2:1 proportionality in the house of laity and house of clergy. the motion itself was passed 3:1 in the house of laity and 80 in favor, 60 versus in the house of clergy. When the Bishops voted it was 10:2 in favor of the motion, with the Bishop of Cork and Bishop of Cashel and Ossory voting versus the motion. Ecumenical guest Fr. Irenaeus du Plessiis spoke from deep personal faith and conviction and with great courage admonished the General Synod versus acting unilateral and altering the system of belief of marriage which the church catholic has held to for nearly 2000 years. he gently but with resolute determination spoke when it comes to his own Antiochian Church and how for them the matter of humane sexuality was settled nearly 2000 years ago by the Church catholic - that marriage is between one man and one woman and outside of this all were to stay celibate. he lovingly spoke of 'holy space' and not just the 'safe place' that the motion mentioned. he likewise reminded those present, and especially the clergy, that we were to be holy because God is Holy. God used this man in a powerful way today, a priest who was there told VOL. the passing of the motion was received in respectful silence, as requested by the Archbishop of Armagh. he had chaired this share of synod with fairness and permitted a long time for humans to voice their viewpoints. the result of the vote has predictably formulated a speech of violent denunciation of negative remarks from the pro-gay lobby, both inside and outside the Church of Ireland. however, the motion doesn't in truth alter anything in the Church of Ireland as it plainly restates the instructing of the Church. however, it does restate the standard versus which instructing and exercise is to be measured. the liberal revisionist pro-gay lobby are already seeking to demonize those who voted for this motion and who cohere to the instructing of canon 31, and the prayer book on marriage, as those determined to go on a "witch hunt" for gays within the Church of Ireland. Such propagating of untruth has come as no surprise to a heap of who have had to live with this for years from the pro-gay lobby. I have posted a number of stories on this synod today including an consultation with an orthodox Irish bishop.*****This past Sunday Washington Bishop Mariann Budde made a formal visitation to Christ Church in Georgetown. A parishioner wrote to VOL to say that she expended an hour addressing the congregation with nearly half the time reciting how she came to TEC in the firstborn place, and her conception of her calling thereby - a matter of little interest to the assemblage. When she was asked by a parishioner as to what TEC could do to stem and reverse it is massive hemorrhaging of membership, she responded (in essence) that TEC must "modernize" but was very vague in regards to just what she meant by "modernize." she went on to say that a good deal of TEC churches that have made innovative modernizations in their services are prospering. Perhaps she meant that we must all fetch guitars to our services."Her theology, however, is out in deep left field and, I fear, she's hopelessly over her head as Bishop of Washington. About the best I may say of her is that she's certainly a vast betterment over +Jane Dixon. Lastly, there was a curious omission in the Eucharist over which she was the officiant; (1) no verger, (2) no miter anyplace in proof and (3) no Bishop's Chair. it likewise seemed to me that her handling of her shepherd's crook was a bit awkward." Ces't la vie Budde.*****Pope Benedict XVI will proceed the elaboration of the new Catholic Church structure developed for former Anglicans by launching an ordinariate for Australia on June 15."I am convinced that those former Anglicans who have made a traveling in faith that has led them to the Catholic Church will find a ready welcome," said Archbishop Denis Hart of Melbourne, who serves as president of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.Australia's Anglican ordinariate will be called the Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross, beneath the patronage of St. Augustine of Canterbury. it will have the status of a diocese.the ordinariate is intended for Anglicans and former Anglicans who wish to enter full communion with the Catholic Church while holding back numerous of their customs and liturgical traditions.*****New Westminster Bishop Michael Ingham took a shovel in hand, and heaved fresh dirt onto the roots of a young Japanese Cherry tree, on the sunlit grounds of St. John's Shaughnessy, and then blessed it. "Bless this tree so that every creature which enjoys it is shade, protection, and beauty may give glory to you, the Creator of all." Surrounded by clergy and Synod delegates on a gorgeous spring morning, the symbolism and signification of the Bishop planting a tree on the grounds of St. John's (Shaughnessy) was palpable, said a press blurb. sure it was. the bishop had managed to get rid of the parishioners of the largest congregation in Canada because of beliefs that were faithful to Scripture, history, tradition and reason. Ingham managed to corral TEC Bishop Greg Rickel of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia to preach a "come home to mamma" sermon after which they all celebrated Mass. Wrote one observer, "Bishop Michael prayed for the tree to grow. how spiritually significant. And, when it's to the full or entire extent grown Bishop Michael will make crosses from it is wood upon which to crucify a few more Conservative objectors."*****Episcopal and Catholic bishops from South Sudan have said that together they "stand committed to do all in [their] power" to realize an end to war between Sudan and South Sudan.following a three-day meeting in Yei, South Sudan, lead by Archbishop Paulino Lukudu Loro and Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul, the 14 bishops issued a 'Message of Peace' which laid out their hopes and plans for an end to conflict.Referencing the widely known and esteemed Martin Luther King speech, the bishop's said: "We dream of two nations which are democratic and free, where persons of all religions, all ethnic groups, all cultures and all languages enjoy equivalent humane rights based on citizenship. we dream of two nations at peace with each other, co-operating to make the best use of their God-given resources, furthering free fundamental interaction between their citizens, living side by side in solidarity and mutual respect, celebrating their shared history and forgiving any wrongs they may have done to each other."We dream of humans no longer traumatized, of children who may go to school, of mothers who may attend clinics, of an end to poverty and malnutrition, and of Christians and Muslims who may attend church or mosque freely without fear. enough is enough. Trust must be built, and this involves honesty, however painful that may be. we invite the International Community to walk with us on the painful traveling of exploring the truth in competing claims and counter-claims, allegations and counter-allegations. we invite them to comprehend the peaceful aspirations of the usual people, and to reflect that in their affirmations and actions."*****The Episcopal Church's General Convention faces questions in regards to who may receive communion. A news story at ENS said that a young woman who called St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Hood River, Oregon, was trouble and asked if the church offered communion. "I genuinely need numerous aid right now and I feel like it starts there," she told the Rev. Anna Carmichael, the parish's rector.the wrinkle was that while the woman had attended respective churches she had "never formally been baptized and yet somehow this calling for to be in community and requiring to be supported, in her mind, had something to do with communion as well," Carmichael recalled. "I just couldn't tell her no, I'm sorry we can't offer that to you," the Diocese of Eastern Oregon rector recalled during a recent interview. There is a tension, Carmichael said, between "the theology behind the importance of baptism," something she said is "incredibly substantial to me," and "the very lived reality that persons need to be supported in their community."So helping a distressed woman means that all the rules for baptism and admittance into the church get tossed out because numerous hysterical woman needs support. this is insanity.Eastern Oregonians want General Convention to allow the church's congregations to "invite all, disregarding of age, denomination, or baptism to the altar for Holy Communion." Eastern Oregon's Resolution C040 would pave the way for this invitation by eliminating Canon 1.17.7, which says "no unbaptized person shall be entitled to receive Holy Communion in this Church." Dumbing down the church's doctrines now follows morals.*****Atlanta Bishop campaigner Sam Candler who is dean of the cathedral in Atlanta wants parents to hand kids over to the Episcopal Church to have "open and honest" conversations in regards to sex and homosexuality. Here is what he wrote in A note to Parents: "In May we will begin a study on current events and cultural issues as seen through the lens of Biblical and Church teaching. Topics may include: marriage, divorce, homosexuality, and sex. we will strive to have open and honorable conversations in regards to these topics. we give hope or courage to you to keep these conversations going at home. Our discussion questions include: What does our culture tell us? What does the Church instruct us? What is modeled in the world around us?"In other words, instruct your kids that gay is okay and to make sure you are inclusive and diverse in your thinking and, above all, announce that God has it all faulty and needs to get up to date with President Obama and TEC, and above all to model what is in the world around us.*****Doyle's War on truth. Sandra McCann of Columbus and the Diocese of Atlanta became, on May 6, the original alien priest to be named a canon of the Diocese of Central Tanganyika under Bishop Mdimi Mhogolo. this action took place at the concluding worship service of this diocese's synod (Atlanta) meeting, with more than 1,000 people in attendance. McCann was commended for her longstanding dedication to the spiritual formation and training of priests for the church in Africa. Mhogolo saluted her for the raising of funds for the betterment of Msalato Theological College and for her current devotion to raising an endowment for student sponsorships and faculty salaries. (Notice the cash connection.)An Anglican source in Tanzania told VOL that Mhogolo has a long history of bringing in TEC clergy to instruct heresy in his seminary at Mslalato. "TEC's goal is to corrupt the future clergy. Mhogolo is fine with the agenda as long as he gets paid. the last TEC teacher was instructing when it comes to the joys and goodness of homosexual sex. TEC is working on Tanzania because they see it as a weak link within GAFCON. they have Mhogolo in their pocket and they are working to buy off bishops and flood the country with gravely trained priests. the Province had banned missionaries and mission support from TEC. the Province does not help women's ordination. this bishop is the nexus of evil in Tanzania and a shill for TEC. this bishop is leading the charge for TEC. they paid him off royally. Personally, I am comforted by what our Savior said about that in all three of the Synoptic Gospels: “but about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” I’m thinking that includes the Mayans and the tabloids.

The Day of the Lord is a conception found allround the Old Testament, mainly in the Prophets. As progressed readers, however, we need to perceive that the wrath of God, as described all around the Old Testament, is a term full of meaning, beyond the surface significance of anger in judgment. God’s wrath is proof of God’s judgment and God’s judgment is always motivated by God’s steadfast love, mercy, and desire to save.

The prophet Joel says the all-mighty power of God is proclaimed along with the message that God is an ever-present refuge for God’s people. (3: 14, 16) in Ezekiel, the day of the Lord is the way the power and love of God are made known. (38:23) Zephaniah calls upon God’s humans to draw together and seek the Lord in humility, or else, be destroyed by sin. Obadiah clarifies how God’s judgment is to be understood, and this is affirmed later by Jesus in the gospel of Matthew: “For the day of the Lord is near… As you have done, it shall be done to you.” (1:15)

In the letter to the Thessalonians, the apostle Paul is seeking to ease a church which is worried because the anticipated second coming has not arrived as they expected and they are becoming confused about the meaning of eternal life. Paul comforts them, reframing for them the conception of the day of the Lord according to the revelation of God in Christ: “For God has destined us not for wrath but for obtaining salvation through our Lord, Jesus Christ…so that whether we are awake or asleep we may live with him.” (1Ths 5:9-10)

Paul reminds the church that God’s plan of salvation was always for the whole world: “I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.” (Isa 49:6) He calls the faithful “children of the light,” the light of salvation promised by God and fulfilled in the Christ. He reminds them that the promise of God has always been salvation and he inspires them to live as children of the God who is faithful to the promises made.

This is as applicable to the church today as it was to the ancient church in Thessalonica. Our hope is in Jesus Christ, the Word of God, the light of life, not in a calendar or in prophecies made by any human. Our lives are in the hands of God alone whose faithfulness is witnessed in the Old and New Testaments.

Our colorful furniture made an impression on a house guest who had a occupation at a local university. Later he noticed that the university was throwing out chairs that matched our furniture. He called us. the chairs were 1967 Eero Aarnio “pastil” chairs. They used to sit in the student action center. School officials were happy to let us cart away galore chairs. in appreciation, we sent a donation to the university. a mint condition chair today is worth $1,200.

We know a lot about Rookwood marks. at an Ohio shop, we saw a tall Rookwood vase prettified with birds. the merchant wanted $10 for it. “It is low-priced,” she said, “because it’s marked ‘Rookwood, 1885, ARV’ and everyone knows the mark is two R’s back-to-back with flames indicating the years.” We didn’t tell her early Rookwood was marked with the company’s name. the vase is pictured in “Kovels’ American Art Pottery.” Sometimes great buys occur because you know more than the seller.

We first ran throughout the work of Gaetano Pesce 18 years ago. We at last visited his studio and purchased a couple of his resin pieces for flower arrangements. as longtime fans of Mr. Pesce, we like to acquire pieces directly from the artist. this resin piece fits in anywhere. It in the first place cost around $110 but now it sells for $750.

VANCOUVER, May 8, 2012 /CNW/ - Tumi Resources Limited (the "Company") (TSXV:TM) (Pink Sheets:TUMIF) (Frankfurt:TUY). Mr. David Henstridge, President, announces that the results from this year's drilling program at the Company's 100% owned Sala project, located in the Bergslagen District of Sweden, have now been received.

Sala, now a historical mine site, was once Europe's greatest silver producer and was in continuous production between the late 15'th century and 1908. Additional mining occurred at Sala for the duration of 1948-52 and between 1945 and 1962 in the adjacent Bronas mine.  Historical records indicate that >200 million ozs of silver were recovered from Sala with grades as high as 7,000 g/t (Tegengren, 1924). The sulphide mineralization is hosted in dolomitic marble and occurs dominantly as silver related with galena and to a lesser extent as complex antimonides, sulphosalts and native silver. The host rocks have been folded and faulted with the underlying metamorphosed felsic volcanics and pyroclastics. The series of shafts along the Sala mineralized trend, more or less, in a north-south direction, apparently controlled by fold structures plunging gently to the north. Longitudinal subsections indicate that the mineralized zone at Sala (as indicated by mined-out workings) likewise plunges gently to the north.

The Sala mine was closed in 1909 following a year-long strike when the water in the mine rose to the mine's 160 meter level. although former owners drilled some short holes on the upper levels and mined some zinc at the southern end, no progressed exploration has been undertaken to test for possible extensions of this mineralization down-plunge to the north. It ought to be brought up that neither the work being undertaken by Tumi nor any potential future mining actions will affect any of the activenesses of the tourist mine. Tumi has received permission and is drilling from the underground workings of the adjacent Tistbrottet dolomite mine which puts the drill website within 250 meters of the possible down-plunge extension of the Sala mineralization.

The primary drill hole, SAA12-009, intersected a six metre wide zone of mineralized dolomite containing pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite and galena.  this mineralized zone occurs within a much wider zone of passed around sulphides that is believed to reflect the down-plunge extension of the Sala mine mineralization.  The best assay results are as follows:

The production company will shoot two horrors, ?Vampires versus Leprechauns? and ?DEADlocked?, in the Greater Belfast area later this year, and has just declared it has signed on the dotted line with Derry-based Uproar Comics to formulate a series of comics based on the films. Causeway founders are likewise currently in early-stage talks with a video game giant to manufacture a video game based on the horrors.

Spence Wright, writer of ?Red Mist?, has written both screenplays, with Causeway?s Chris Patterson helping to formulate the story for ?Vampires versus Leprechauns?.

Actor and conductor Allan Gildea (Give My Head some Peace/The Patrol) will direct ?Vampires versus Leprechauns?, with Chris Patterson and Paddy McCarney of Causeway co-producing.

The feature is being dubbed as a horror-comedy which sees sleepy Irish village Comhla Breac plagued by a group of bloodthirsty vampires looking for a gateway to Hell.

?DEADlocked? will be directed by Chris Baugh (Boys from County Hell), with the Causeway duo likewise co-producing.

?DEADlocked? is an apocalyptic-based horror where zombies have taken over a Belfast town. It sees bankers who are desperate for an escape from their ravaged workplace undertake to break free, as victims succumb to grey fever.

Two Horror Films for Northern Ireland ?Vampires versus Leprechauns? & ?DEADLocked? is a post from: Rare Religious Collectibles

On this desolate, tortured-looking land, developed centuries ago by molten lava flow, we rolled out our sleeping bags and hoped the yipping coyotes would not keep us awake.

Mitch, Homer and I had arrived late this evening at Lava Beds National Monument, just south of the Oregon-California border. Since entering the park, we’d seen no other car, no other people. now, with darkness at hand, atop this high desert plateau, no light from any ranch house or town was seen.

At the time of our visit, many years ago, this national monument had no visitor center, no ranger talks around campfires at night. our unimproved campground had no restroom. Its only amenities: a picnic table and bench, shaded not even by a juniper.

But we had not come for amenities. we came to see the monument’s bizarre landscape formed by that molten lava. we came to steep ourselves in the unbelievable history of this area. the monument’s 46,500 acres integrate the internetsite of the Modoc Indian War (1872-73) fought mostly in California — it is only major Indian war. It took the lives of 41 soldiers, wounded an even more outstanding number, and seven commissioned officers were killed, making it the most disastrous Indian war in the Northwest.

Leading the American contingent was Gen. E.R.S. Canby. Leading the Modocs was Captain Jack, so called by white settlers because of military embellishments worn on his “ordinary” shirt, cap and trousers. Winema, of the Modoc tribe, married to a white man, was the legendary heroine of the conflict.

The Modocs, who were resisting life on a reservation, knew the lava beds intimately. Its cinder cones, deep chasms, and some 450 lava tube caves, provided the finest fortifications ever designed by nature.

In the lava bed tubes, a little group of Indians for five months defended it is position in Capt. Jack’s Stronghold versus some 20 times their number of American troops. not until ammunition ran out were they driven from their rocky fortress.

Peace talks were arranged, but legend has it that Winema learned that Capt. Jack planned to kill Canby and his aides for the duration of the talks, and she risked her life to warn them of the plot. the talks nonetheless were held. Gen. Canby was shot and killed, as was Rev. E. Thomas, a Methodist minister. a. B. Meacham was gravely wounded and left for dead but subsequently rescued, and two escaped.

At a trial in Klamath Falls, Capt. Jack and three other Modoc leaders were sentenced to hang.

A “replay” of this unbelievable history awaits at these Lava Beds, and if your summer 2012 list of must-visit destinations is not yet complete, exploration this addition.

Do not suppose a lush garden spot, four-star hotels or glitzy restaurants.

But, oh, what you will find: solitude, more than 450 caves, Native American sites, pictographs, petroglyphs, historic battlefields, hiking trails, wildflowers such as the pink and lavender spring-blooming sickle-pod rock cress. Inquire about special summer activities, such as the Timeline Living History event, Astronomy Day and Night Sky event, and Junior Ranger Day.

Spelunkers will love the monument with it is caves to explore on their own or on ranger-guided tours. the visitor center provides current info and a caving brochure. Get yours before you get started to explore these caves that vary substantially in difficultness and complexity. more than two dozen caves have devised entrances and trails, as shown on the monument map. 

Before starting out, talk with a ranger to make sure you’re prepared. During summer, free guided cave tours are offered. Mushpot, a lighted cave, is accessible from the visitor center parking lot.

From East and West Overlook, watch for migratory and resident birds on Tule Lake. before the early 1900s, and before lake drainage for agricultural purposes, up to six million birds might have been seen there.

Hike the trail to Hidden Valley and Mammoth Crater. Don’t miss Big Nasty Trail or the trek to Heppe Cave. Put on your must-see list the .8-mile trail to Symbol Bridge, and thence to Big Painted Cave. Entrances to both have black and white Modoc-style pictographs on boulders — faded and faint, but unforgettable art works. 

Visit the Thomas-Wright Battlefield and Black Crater, where Modocs ambushed an Army reconnaissance unit. Interpretive signs explain the battlefields.

You’ll see Gillem’s Camp and Sheepy Ridge where army soldiers were stationed April through June 1873. the top of Sheepy Ridge offers a view of Canby Cross, where the peace talks ended in tragedy.

And a will have to is Capt. Jack’s Stronghold Trail (1.5 miles) and it is trenches where the little band of Indians held out versus the army. At Hospital Rock, offerings of ribbons and sage occasionally are hung on medicine poles to mark that particular place.

Lava Beds National Monument is open year-round and camping is permitted. no gas, oil, furnishes or lodging are available. Park roads in winter may be temporarily closed to vehicles by snow. Fees: Seven-day entrance fee, $15 per vehicle. for those coming by other means, $7 per person. History and geology are interpreted at the visitor center. Open daily, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., June 15 to Labor Day. the rest of the year, hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

BBC Drama has been accused of neglecting the corporation’s target to spend 17% of it is network TV budget in the nations, after it emerged that three new shows are being made in the Republic of Ireland.

Equity, which will this month officially launch a venture to give hope or courage to broadcasters to create and cast more series across the UK, said the BBC’s decision to create Loving Miss Hatto, Vexed and Ripper Street in Ireland is particularly “galling for the talent” in Northern Ireland.

Although the BBC often times films outside of the UK, Equity assistant popular secretary Stephen Spence said the Corporation, as the UK’s state broadcaster, has a “particular obligation to Northern Ireland when it decides to manufacture on the island of Ireland”.

In a letter to the BBC, he said: “It is of great concern that, at a time when the BBC has confirmed it is intention to increase production in the nations, it is in fact spending licence payers’ cash commissioning UK independent manufacturers to film in the Irish Republic for the UK network.”

He told The Stage: “if they [the BBC] are doing something that gains Irish men and women, which it will, then the people in the north, who are underneath British jurisdiction and are covered by Equity UK, do not grasp why the state broadcaster chooses to film in the portion to whom they have no obligation, at the expense of the percentage they do have an obligation to.”

Spence said he understood the BBC had chosen the Republic of Ireland to film in because of tax gains it enjoys there, and because of help from the Irish Film Board.

However, he said the BBC’s merchandise must not be made outside the UK until it has met it is target to have 17% of network spend come from the nations by 2016 - which was set by the BBC in 2008 and reinforced in the Corporation’s Delivering Quality first report last year. In the report, the BBC said it is 17% goal would be met sooner than 2016, and would result in “millions of pounds of new network commissions” in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

The spokesman said: “our understanding is they have not got 17% of their spend in the nations yet, so in our book this was an prospect for them to increase their spend in Northern Ireland in order to meet that target.”

Responding, a spokesman for the BBC said: “The BBC is consecrated to 17% of network spend on productions in the nations.”

LIVERMORE -- It's a long way from singing leading operatic roles in the wilds of Alaska to presiding over services at a church in Livermore, but the Rev. Joyce Parry Moore has spanned the distance.

A classically trained lyric soprano, she likewise brings acting, dancing and writing attainments to her ministry as the new rector (priest) of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church. in addition to her training for the priesthood at the Pacific School of Religion, she has founded an opera company, acted in plays, ran in grueling relay races, performed liturgical dance and boarded container vessels to minister to dealer seamen in San Francisco Bay.

A native of Washington, Parry Moore received a graduate degree in opera performance from the New England Conservatory of Music after a college major in theater and voice. As part of her work at Perseverance in 1996, Parry Moore founded a journeying company called "Opera to GO!" to fetch altered classical opera performances to remote villages. That company is still in existence today.

They blended their families: "hers," a son by a former marriage; "his," a son and two daughters, and "theirs," Ariana, now 12. Ariana, following in her parents' footsteps, is studying acting at the Oakland School for the Arts.

Parry Moore's firstborn inklings of her call to the ministry came in 2002 during her involvement with Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Juneau, where she and Patrick wrote and directed Christmas pageants. Subsequently, this call was "very much shaped" by treatment for breast cancer.

"In the course of bearing two children and going through cancer and chemotherapy, I became more and more 'undignified,' " Parry Moore said, referring to a quotation from King David in the Bible. "I had surely been broken and burned ... I was ready to give myself over to a new life as a priest of the Episcopal Church."

She has written a book called "Breast Dancer." Humor and singing are some of her cancer-fighting tools: she jokes that she nicknamed her surgeon in Juneau -- a baritone who was singing the role of Leporello, Don Giovanni's valet, in an Opera to GO! production -- as "Lumporello."

Raised in the Methodist Church, Parry Moore became a Catholic during her graduate studies in Boston and then joined the Episcopal Church after moving to Alaska. her faith traveling results in a very ecumenical outlook, as evidenced by her interfaith studies at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley and it is fellow member schools, amongst them the Center for Buddhist Studies.

"The community of St. Bart's, Livermore, reflects the kind of diversity into which I am called to minister -- we serve persons of many demographics, cultures and walks of life," Parry Moore said.

Parry Moore received a master's degree in Divinity from PSR in 2009, was ordained to the Episcopal priesthood in 2011, and is carrying out or participate in a doctorate in Pastoral Counseling at the San Francisco Theological School. her dissertation focuses on providing pastoral care for women after treatment for cancer.

She, Patrick, and their daughter, Ariana, have moved from Oakland to Pleasanton to be near "St. Bart's," as the church is known to it is parishioners. April 16 was her firstborn day in office as the church's new rector, and she led her primary Sunday services on April 22.
